MyLifeHisWIll, I totally agree with you. I hate my thighs too and I tend to skip the shorts unless they're bermudas or capris. I do have about two pairs of shorts but i recently decided to ditch wearing them in public because they were too short. Somehow during summer i manage to get away with wearing jeans all the time without becoming too hot. haha. :)

I wear knee length shorts.....
I love them, and wear them heaps. I also have some nice cool skirts that I wear. I read somewhere that skirts are actually quite cool in summer. I always wondered how people like Muslims can wear long sleeves and ankle length skirts and not 'die' from the heat!

Skirts, i love. I could definitely wear more of them, just as long as they were the long flowy kind or go below my knees. About the long sleeves and ankle length skirts... I had to smile. Now that you've brought it up, I have to wonder too. Somehow I think they just can tolerate it better than we might imagine.

nah although it is a bit of a distraction for guys (we usually let our minds run when we see beautiful girls not wearing much), honestly i think its fine although its best if you cover most of your body up cause although some guys a christian or wat ever we're guys, we cant always help wat we think about so...

Yeah - it sure makes it hard to look 'dressed' at a pool when everyone is pretty much naked!
But when we girls know and understand why we have to help you guys, it makes it easier. I couldn't imagine walking around in a bikini (in public) knowing what guys around me are thinking! Ugh!

yeah, it is a little weird. If I ever do just wear my bikini, It's when it's only girls around, or there are lots of us!! lol

Turn up the music
Turn it up loud
Take a few chances
Let it all out
'Cause you won't regret it
Lookin' back from where you have been
'Cause it's not who you knew
And it's not what you did
It's how you live

Sorry to bring back a dead topic but it was too great to not reply!

Personally the whole guy shorts isn't my thing (im a girly girl lol) but a cute skirt is a lovely addend!!!

I totally agree! Honestly, I've worn bikinis the last two summers but until reading FYWO did I truly realize what a stumbling block it really is. So it's good to see the alternatives to swim suits! I sort of understand your girls' perspective on guys covering up. That can really be a temptation for me, just awkward chests haha. But I agree that it's weird to see them swimming in shirts.

ANYWAY, I wanted to ask where you girls shop at for your suits or maybe just summer clothes in general? I received a magazine from Delias.com. They have some really cute tankinis and boy shorts but for a top and bottom it gets over $50. Does anyone have a certain store or brand they like?

Thanks again for this topic!

Hey Lydia-jayne - I love some of Delias suits, and sometimes its worth the cash to get a modest suit, but personally I went to Kohls (they had some cute suits online that wern't in the store so im still waiting for them to be in-stores). They have great deals and have some really cute tankinis! Hope you can find something really cute!!!! and modest lol.....

I actually found some at Sears that were adorable. I have this pair of soccar shorts that I wear over any random bottoms, and I just pick a top that I like =]

When you said Kohls and Sears I thought it would be cheaper but they're still about $25! I was shocked, haha. But you're right that Kohls usually has tons of sales in the store. I'll have to go look around.
Thanks for the suggestions! [=

I'm a guy and I think bikini's are ok if your reasons are ok. They do show a bit much in some occasions but you won't be seen like you are trying to get attention most of the time.

I personally like having my shirt off at home, especially if it's warm weather. I don't think twice about going swimming with just board shorts on because to me that's normal and I don't feel like I am showing off to anyone or making anyone feel uncomfortable.

Thanks for that bit of advice James. Of course it doesn't mean that i will now go and buy a bikini or anything, but at least i know. Personally i think it's okay if guys have their shirts off just as long as you don't go public like that at the mall or something. To me that's kind of awkward. Sorry if i've offended anyone with that comment.

Yeah I don't think anyone should think it's normal to walk around half naked but you should be discerning for yourself and your own situations. Keep in mind that there are a lot of guys out there that love to check out girls on the beach and I have even been asked for my opinion on "best on beach" by someone on a camp.

Yea - I mean, I've asked my boyfriend his opinion on bikinis and he said there is a huge difference between a bikini and a BIKINI - he thinks a half-way decent bikini that isnt just strings is okay, and in his personal opinion, not distracting or immodest. However, that doesn't mean, as Nicole said, that i am gunna go out and buy one, because following what James said, just cuz one guy doesn't care doesn't mean the rest of them wont be letting thier thoughts wander. And I don't want to be a stumbling block for ANY guy - and I really dont want random guys checking me out in hardly any clothing....cuz its kinna awkward to think they can take those images home....keep that in mind girls....
