| Dating vs Courtship? Modesty? The way a girl interacts with her friends? |

Well.... I may not be a guy... but from gleaned knowledge from past conversations and readings: I know there are guys out there that really do appreciate when a girl takes the time to dress modestly. To these guys she is the girl that respects herself, carries mystery (that intrigues them), and a lady of quality; though the last part could either be built up or slightly destroyed by how she acts too. The way she interacts with her friends says a lot about her character too. I'm pretty sure a guy appreciates and prefers a girl who treats her friends with respect too cause then she'll more likely treat him the same way. From what I've read, no guy wishes disrespect on him. Heh. |

| I love to see a girl dress modestly, nice, but modest; no cleavage(that includes really short shorts), u don't want to turn a guy on. If u dress nice and a guy seems into you, you know he's not in it for your body. |

exactly Lee... exactly. IDK why girls are so desperate to get noticed... I mean, do you really want him to only like you physically, cuz that NEVER turns out good in the end of course there needs to be a physical attraction, but that can come later on but yes, I think girls should dress nicely and presentably, but not like a stripper... |

Well you all know my standpoint on girls and modesty But while I don't understand why a girl would dress so provocatively just to get male attention even just for her body.... I can understand why she would go to such depths to get the attention she craves especially if it has something to do with her background or upbringing. I would tell her to hold out for something better, that there are guys out there who do appreciate modesty. In some cases I think it's really sad, and the media doesn't help out at all. For the other girls who dress in a way the media tells them to- just because.... I don't understand them at all I get the feeling this is what Jo was talking about. |

| I know I'm not a guy, but i hope its ok if i add something to the main question. About the modesty part. Is it ok to go swimming with guys or would that tempt them to much? Also how modest a swimsuit should you wear so you aren't a stumbling block? |

| Well Stephanie, my sis has a two piece swimming suit; it's like shorts with a tank top and it looks fine. Temptations get strong for a guy at the beach or the pool. I have no idea why a girl can't walk around in a bra and panties, but she can walk around in a smaller piece of fabric what we know as a bikini. To me it's just wrong. And when they take off there pants and shirt in public, I don't want to see that!! |

| So what ur saying is that as long as a girl is well covered and the suit isn't too tight its ok 4 guys and girls to swim together?

Look up a topic we have here called "Swimsuit modesty" but read the whole thing basically, no matter what you wear, once you're wet, it clings to you, so it's not modest anyways... idk David explained it a whole lot better... I don't see anything wrong with swimming in a group, where there's guys and girls... but yeah, I'd avoid the "taking my pants off and shirt off" right in front of everyone... even when tonned guys do that, it's distracting!! for example, we were at a camp, and I was TRYING not to be guy obsessed, and one of the guys was really really good looking... and I was avoiding staring at him... then we go to the beach and BOOM, right in front of me, like 1 meter away, he takes his shirt off, and I'm like trying so hard to not look at him, but it was really distracting!! so i dont really think there's much you CAN do, besides wear a rash shirt and shorts... even one pieces aren't modest... but the topic explains this all and more. |

to Lee... we have an Add here in NZ, and this dude's in speedos (gross) and he's at the beach, and the narrator goes "When is it acceptable to wear speedos? and the dude starts walking around, and the narrator goes "togs, togs, togs," and a car goes behind him, and he says "Undies" I'll try to link the add, hold on... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-Lx2ihpGbc yep... |

I think once you've read the topic, you'll come to realise there's not anything you can define as "modest swimwear" if you can tell you're a girl whilst wearing it, it's not modest... idk again, David explained it better... for myself, I think those work for kids... not so much for adults... |

| like, idk, everyone needs to wear what they feel comfortable in... so everyone needs to set the standard for themselves... and for myself, personally (not saying they're not good...) but it looks more like you're going to a summer picnic rather than to the beach... like rash shirts and wetsuits at least look surfy... |

@ Stephanie... arg sorry, I wasn't trying to sound mean, and I read my post, and i felt that's how I came across sorry bout that... I think, if you think it's the most appropriate thing to wear and it's gonna help guys to NOT stumble, then go for it where i come from (In NZ, not SA, cuz idk what they wear swimmingwise there...) we have 90 mile beach, which is approx 90 k's long... and so we have massive amounts of beach to choose from, serious, the beach is crowded when there's 10 people... as in, we dont get much people at the beach... so... swimming in a bikini isn't much of an issue here... but yes, around guys etc, I do tend to wear what I've said above sorry again if I sounded harsh, i should have explained better |

JoJo, hey it's ok! You meant the best! Around here (in the area of Lancaster,Pennsylvania)its really hard to find good places to swim, so sometimes you can end up swimming with up to 18-20 people in a pond. But anyway I saw your point and I appreciate your willingness to share! |

My take on modesty and swimsuit modesty.... ^_^ I guess this is what happens when you've been on the forums for a while. In a nutshell: Modesty: I prefer my clothing to cover cleavage, and my shirts to be long enough to go over my hips- or at least layer. Layering is is a fantastic way to go if you ask me. I would try to avoid words that call attention to reading them- especially if they read right across the bust. As far as bottoms- I think they need to be long enough so that when you bend over you can't see anything underneath. In a nutshell. Swimsuit modesty: I agree with Lee: we can't walk around in bras and underpants, but we can walk around in much skimpier bikinis??? I don't get it. And I prefer not to go there. One pieces- I still say they're much more modest than the bikini- at least the ones that cover everything. Forget the ones that have openings everywhere that totally kill the point of a one-piece bathing suit. Even if it is for fashion sake. -_- If you're going to wear a two-piece- well at least for me I'd prefer to wear a tank top over it or even a rash guard or something. In a nutshell, there you go. For the detailed answers, check out "Swimsuit modesty" in the archives. |
