According to FYWO guys think girls know what they're doing when they dress in certain ways or are 'disrespectful', when actually we don't. Is this really what guys think? (Guys who haven't read FYMO or FYWO, that is!!!) Because most girls have no idea. ~from a girl

um being a girl, I think we do actually know what we're doing. How many times have we stood in front of a mirror and gone "darn I look HOTT today, bet I'll get noticed!"
Thats exactly what they mean by "we know what we're doing." cuz we're dressing in a way to make people think we're Hott...

same goes for dressing drab to not get noticed. your attitude in front of the mirror is actually how you plan people to see you.

Just helping you see where that comment came from :D not trying to be mean.
but feel free to comment if you dont exactly agree :D

Nope I agree :D
Haha it's true our attitude when we look in front of the mirror is basically how we expect others to see us.
I do think some girls know exactly what they're doing when they dress a certain way. Most girls know the art of dressing a certain way that is suggestive, seductive, or flirty. They know what they're doing when they ditch the jeans and modest top for the mini skirt and super low cut, form fitting top when going out for a night on the town. It's how they catch attention. And they know it.
Granted, NOT ALL girls are like that, and not all girls want the attention.
And yeah, there are a few girls out there who don't know what they're doing when they let their bra strap show under an off shoulder top, or when they're wearing a mini skirt. But usually their attitude is different; and then there are still those who don't know what they're doing, not only in how they dress, but also in how they act- overly friendly coming across as flirty. Then I'd say they might want to be careful.
Sorry, I didn't mean to give off a snobby, rude, judgmental, or condescending attitude. I meant this purely as friendly opinions. :)

I'm not sure but I think A&Ls point wasn't the attitude of getting noticed, but that of what the guys are imagining when they get home after seeing a girl in a short skirt. Maybe a lot of the girls don't know what thoughts a lot of guys have about them.

Hmm I agree that a lot of girls know what they're doing, but I know that when I get dressed I am looking for something that 1: is comfortable, and 2: makes me feel like I can be myself. It might help that I live on a farm and don't have contact with a lot of guys (although that is only recent) but I absolutely HATE the idea that guys are seeing me and thinking 'hot'. I don't like the word at all, and have never thought of myself as that. Sure, I'll sometimes say "ooh, I look pretty today!" but I like to hope I don't care too much about what others think. I used to, but I've come to realize that as long as I am happy with myself (and God is happy with me) it SO doesn't matter what other people think. But my main question/point was not on what us girls thing when we get dressed but if guys really think that we are intentionally doing everything knowing exactly what effect it all has on them. Not just clothes-wise but also when we tease them. Sheesh, I'm not making sense here...um..... put it like this: When we say something in a teasing way or are wearing something we might not realize isn't totally modest, do guys think that we understand exactly what we are doing? Do they really think we know that saying something will hurt them or that wearing something will have that effect on them? I think the one quote in the book (I might be wrong) some guy said "Oh yeah, they know exactly what they're doing." I was like 'WHAT THE HECK? No we don't omigosh is that how they see us?' so that was kind of my main question, if you understand my complicated way of putting it.

haha actually A&L, I'm the same in that respect... when a guy calls me "HOT!" I'm like "... dude... Step off... I'm not gonna talk to you if you have that attitude"

and yeah I was kinda shocked at the "what guys think when they see you" stuff... and now I take that into consideration.

but i think the quote in the book was along the lines of what i first stated...

but I do see where you're coming from. even with the best intentions, sometimes we come across in way we weren't trying to come across as... did that make sense?

like I'm naturally super friendly and I tend to laugh ALOT and get excited ALOT haha, and sometimes people take that as me being really flirty, when I'm not trying to be like that at all...

I'm sorry guys! I'm sorry Jo, I know you guys don't have that attitude, I was kind of trying to go for a generalized opinion of a lot of girls in this world.
There are the exceptions, and you guys fall into that category :) I'm sorry for making it look like I was pointing fingers. :/

As for the way I try to dress... modestly, I hope. Yes, some days I'll look in the mirror and think 'Oh I think I look pretty today, or cute', or sometimes I'll be dissatisfied and fix my hair or change my top, etc. I've never had any guy whistle at me, try a pick up line on me, call me 'hot' or any synonyms of the like.
Nor do I wish it. I'd prefer NOT to have a total stranger call me hot, I think it's a little unnerving. :/ I am satisfied being single right now, and yeah, I'll be honest, there are some days when I think about dating more than others, but it passes. :P
I have been told I'm a friendly person, and I like to laugh and put others at ease. Sometimes I wonder what first impressions I have on others, and what people see or notice when I talk and interact with others. :P
More later. I have a lot on my mind now. :P

ok so this is sorta on this topic but it has been bugging me.....
last week on the bus coming back from band music contest, and i was sitting with a friend and then we got of at DQ for ice cream. we all got back on after awhile. i sat down in my spot waiting for M to sit by me. BUT this guy i know came up to me and said "hey Rebekah can i sit here?" i told him no and he just sat down anyways and said"well now im just going to sit here to tick you off"((he swore every other word, i kid you not)) so i was ok whatever. i sat as close to the window as i could and zipped my jacket up. he swore word after word. i turned to him and said " hey if you want to sit here and talk to me or around me, then cut out the cusing!" he was like oh sorry my bad. it worked for like 2 minutes. HE was telling me and some others a dumb story and he thought it was funny. so i was like oh ha ha it was so funny i forgot to laugh. i was just being sarcastic. Boy did that tick him off. he turned to me and said " ooh you b----!!! the bus got quiet and a guy friend of mine was like Slap him!! so i punched and slapped him so hard. and he just laughed. it made me so mad.
so that is my little story, i don twant to be called that ever again! same with hot or sexy..
i dont ever want to talk to him again...

anyways moving on...... ;P

I hate it when a girl knows that, that certain outfit will get her some attention. It drives me insane!! I have a friend like that who is always looking for attention from guys. When I tell her that she shouldn't really wear that certain outfit out, she like, ' oh really, ok wont happen again.' then shrugs it off. Next time I see her she is wearing it again! Wow, I really don't like it when people don't listen!

Man if it were me in that situation Beckah, my attitude would have been borderline rude- or the on the precipice of polite just before falling into the rude category. My voice gets a a little taut, and I think I can kinda be short. :P It sounds like that guy had SOME NERVE coming up to you like that though. I would have been like 'Oh my goodness... is he done yet?'
I find it unnerving when guys act that way....

I have no cousins my age :P I have older cousins who are pretty sweet though :)
Beckah- haha that's right! Lol I don't know if I'd ever be violent, but I only have so much tolerance for someone who steps on my toes like that. :P My best friends know when I get mad, annoyed, or ticked off. They can see it coming and either intervene, or back off. :P I'm still learning to control my tongue. Of course, they also know which buttons to push with me too- a good thing and a not-so-good thing ^_^
