Saturday afternoon after I left Calvary Community Church, I flew from Seattle to Phoenix and drove to the area of Chambers, Arizona. I was going to do a women’s event at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship on Monday night. Sunday and Monday were great opportunities for me to try to lock myself away in a remote hotel room and get a lot of catching up done on the next book “For Parents Only”. It’s very stressful to be way behind on deadline and to know that there’s such good information but to not feel like I have enough time to really do a good job of getting it out on paper. So, this long weekend break in between the Seattle and Phoenix events was a really good opportunity for me to get a lot of work done. Sunday morning actually was great for me because I went to the morning se ...

I had one of the most touching experiences of my life today. I had been at Calvary Community Church a year ago to talk to the women about For Women Only to explain things that they didn’t know that the men in their life needed. That event a year ago was a great event and the church had invited me to come back this year to do the For Men Only version. I came in expecting just a few men, since men don’t usually attend relationship type of events. Instead there were 350 men in the room. When they introduced me and I walked in on stage, all 350 men jumped to their feet and started applauding and they wouldn’t stop. It was one of the most touching moment ...

This was a city-wide event sponsored by Van Dyke United Methodist church, and it drew a great crowd…. Unfortunately, since we took a family vacation on this trip I was not able to blog - but I do have a photo of me on the stage and one of my kids helping me pack my books for the trip.

Just prior to my event at Van Dyke United Methodist in Tampa, Florida we took a much needed family vacation with the kids at Disney. Being on the road a lot means that we have to take every opportunity we can to have special times together as a family. The kids had a great time - as you can see!

This morning we had a ladies breakfast with 60 women at a small church in Georgia, and boy was I excited to not have to get on an airplane. To have a local event at a church that was a few miles away from my home that was a real treat. This is a wonderful church of about 180 people, and there were 60 women who came to the breakfast. So many of the women had invited a friend from their neighborhood or the office and it was a really great morning. They had already read both For Women Only (about a year or more ago) and For Men Only and had done discussion groups. The church had actually given out copies of both For Women Only and For Men Only to the congregation and it was really great that they are to able talk about the subject. So many women came up to the me to say th ...

People always ask me, how do you handle being gone so much, especially when you have young children? Let me tell you- it can be really tough. I miss those little peanuts when I’m gone, however I don’t always have to miss them. In fact this trip to Cincinnati was a treat for me, because I was able to bring my daughter with me on a little mother-daughter trip. I had a busy engagement at this church on a Sunday morning. The Pastor was interviewing me on stage in front of a congregation on both For Women Only and For Men Only. Whenever I can do Sunday mornings like that, I will love it because I get to bring my daughter with me. She is in grade school and it’s just such a precious time to be able to have that opportunity, which I know so many parents never get, to be able to go on a trip with just one of their kids ...

I just finished a three-day women’s retreat at Lake Junaluska, North Carolina. About 175 women drove from Fellowship Church in Knoxville, about an hour and half away, to beautiful Lake Junaluska, which is a giant United Methodist Retreat Center of a bunch of different hotels, inns, cottages, and different buildings all around the beautiful lake. These women were ready to have some fun and we sure did.
We had a fantastic Friday night session and we talked about the first three subjects in my book, ‘For Women Only’, about how men need respect, how men secretly often feel a bit insecure and need affirmation, and about how guys feel a real compulsion to be the provider for the family. It ...

Jeff and I flew in to Colorado on September 13th. This was a very big week for us. We had dinner on the night of September 13th with Steve Cobb, the President of WaterBrook; and Don Jacobson, the outgoing President of Multnomah. The dinner was an off the record meeting and chance to meet this new man who is the President of the new publishing company that we are going to be working with. It was both a terrific dinner and terrific meeting. Steve Cobb is a good guy, and as sad as I am to be leaving the previous Multnomah family, I was very glad to connect with Steve so well.
The next day on the 14th, Jeff and I attended a day long meeting at the WaterBrook offices in Colorado Springs. We spent the whole day in their conference room with this giant floor-to-ceiling window overlooking the start of the Colorado Rockies mountain ...

This morning I spoke to North Lanier Baptist Church and had to get up really early, having gotten back at midnight the night before. This morning I had to head up way North of Atlanta into the Cumming, Lake Lanier area to speak. It was a fantastic women’s event.
This church hadn’t really had a whole lot of women’s ministries going on officially for years. So the new Women’s Ministry Director, Debbie Licona and her husband, a newly-hired pastor, asked me to kick off the event to help them re-start the women’s ministry at the church. They made it into a big to-do; they led worship, had breakfast for about 100 women, and then I did my talk on understanding men. We had a fantastic question and answer time afterwards, and everybody was very intrigued with the idea that we are ...

Last night, Jeff and I spoke on “For Men Only” at NorthStar Church in Acworth, which is West of Kennesaw and in the Northwest suburbs of Atlanta. It was a long drive; an hour and a half drive each way from where we leave in the northeast suburbs. Anyone who knows Atlanta traffic knows that it’s not easy to drive to a Friday night event on the other side of town!
But there were two good sides to this. One was that it was almost like a mini date for me and Jeff. We’ve been so busy this week, I’ve had four local events this week, so we haven’t had much time together. So, we had almost three hours in the car together to be able to catch up. And of course I had to avoid the temptation of s ...
